First snow in Belgium

Today we had the first snow in Belgium. The kids at school loved it!

Sinterklaas in Belgium

In Belgium, all children look forward to 6 December. That day they celebrate Sint-Nicholas (Sinterklaas, as the Flemish say). All good children get presents from the holy man. His assistents are black (Zwarte Piet), as a result of climbing into the chimneys. Zwarte Piet is also a very crazy guy and he makes the children laugh a lot. Also at our school, we celebrated Sinterklaas (as he is also the patron saint of our village).
