Yes, it's true Ieva. It's early for us as well but I explained to my young students that it is just a matter of distances. Santa is in Belgium because is nearer from Laponia :))
NO NO NO, Saint-Nicholas isn't santaclaus!!!! Saint-Nicholas is a saint - santaclaus has nothing to do with religion. In Belgium santaclaus has worked his way into the shops, due to the "Americanisation".
Ahhhhhhh!!! First we thought the Belgian Santa had changed the hat :) but now - thanks to your explanation- we see that you share your life with Saint- Nicholas!!
Oh yes, Rudi, of course! :) I meant - whether it is a tradition that Saint Nicholas comes to children? But in fact, Santa Claus comes from Saint Nicholas. How about the Christmas traditions in other countries? I've heard that Catalans have one rather peculiar tradition ;)
Is this a tradition? It would be quite strange in Latvia if Santa would come so early. We will wait for him only at the end of December.
